What to Expect at Your First Visit
Welcome to Life Smiles of Owasso!
When you step into our practice for the first time, you will be warmly greeted by our front office concierge. She will check you in for your appointment and assist you with completing or updating forms on an electronic device.
Our practice lounge is well-appointed with La-Z-Boy chairs and a luxurious interior decor. We have taken the utmost care to ensure both your safety and your comfort while you rest and await your scheduled treatment time in our waiting area.
Your Initial Consultation
Ordinarily, you will start by meeting with our hygienist. She will spend a few minutes getting to know you, will look at your teeth and gums, answer your questions, and begin the examination process. She will screen you for oral cancer and take any needed x-rays and a CT scan of your jaw.
Next, you will meet Dr. Lim who will complete the examination and go over his findings with you. This examination process is fairly thorough, and you should allow an hour to an hour and a half for this appointment. We ordinarily don’t do a cleaning at this appointment, but will schedule that as part of your treatment, after Dr. Lim’s complete diagnosis of your needs.
If you are coming to Dr. Lim because of TMJ problems, because you have a toothache, or are wanting some other specific service, you will begin by meeting directly with Dr. Lim.
If you need a professional dental cleaning, we will schedule you for one after Dr. Lim has had the chance to carefully examine your mouth and diagnose any health concerns.
We also offer a complimentary consultation if you are coming in for a second opinion, or simply want to learn about your options for smile makeovers or dental implants before committing to a paid exam.
Our Practice Technology
Many recent advances in dental technology make dental care more comfortable, faster, and more accurate. Our office is state-of-the-art with this new technology.
Digital dental X-rays: A digital scanner replaces the sharp-edged film of yesteryear. The images we capture show up instantly on the computer right there in the operatory.
3D X-rays/cone beam CT scanner: Having our own CT machine on-site eliminates the need for us to refer you to another location to have this essential diagnostic image taken. A CT scan provides Dr. Lim with a detailed map of key structures inside your jaw, and this is essential when planning for complex procedures like dental implants or TMJ treatment.
CEREC: This CAD/CAM technology makes it possible for Dr. Lim to design and place beautiful ceramic tooth-colored restorations like dental crowns and onlays in one appointment. No more wearing a temporary crown while your case is sent to a dental laboratory.
Dental lasers: Dental lasers are useful in a wide range of treatment applications. When used for fillings, there is no vibration, no annoying sound, and they seal the tooth as they remove decay and damaged tooth structure, which makes them painless and eliminates the need for local anesthetic. At different settings, they can also be used for minor surgical procedures and for fast, effective bleaching of the teeth.
Digital impressions: Instead of taking a mold of your teeth with a messy dental putty, we use a wand that optically scans your teeth in a matter of seconds and creates a perfect digital image of your mouth.
Intraoral camera: The intraoral camera dramatically increases our ability to see what is happening in your mouth. It also enables us to share those views with you.
We look forward to welcoming you to our practice! Call us or request an appointment online if you are ready to get started.
